I really couldn't come up with a better title than the name itself. I've been following Salud! on Instagram since the day they opened due to mutual friends but I have not eaten there till last night. I don't know what took me this long to try it, I know I live very far from it but that's not excuse because I've been to thChrch across the street, the Chicano Park, and Iron Fist Brewery just down the street. Oh! I should not forge Por Vida Coffee shop too! I had my first Horchata Latte from Por Vida and yesterday I randomly order their Sandia Aguas Frescas and it was the most refreshing drink I had all day! Maybe ever!! I was by myself at the time but I really wanted to speak to myself out loud, asking myself why haven't I had this a long time ago!? I'm no tourist, I'm no stranger to Mexican cuisine/culture, I grew up around it all my life. But apparently there's a lot for me to learn. It's like one of those cases where your true love has been right under your nose the whole time but you never paid attention.
I've been next door to Salud for an art show, I've been walking up and down these streets before and I've heard the words on the streets about Salud! I kept hearing good things about Salud! from every corner of the streets. Last night I met up with my three friends from Taegukgi KBBQ, Judy, Annie, and Grace. The Taegukgi's Angels haha. I haven't seen these three girls in a while and we really needed to catch up on each other lives. We couldn't pick a place to have dinner at first then I remembered I haven't been to Salud! And I do not regret that decision, I want to go back this weekend already! This place is seriously good, they stay busy but service is quick and by the time you order a seat/table will be available. If you go on a lot of food adventures in other cities, state, or countries, this is the place for you guys. And tourist too, if you ever visit San Diego for great Mexican food this is one of the places you can't miss out on. Its surrounded by so much culture, art, music, beer, coffee, and tacos. Not like other neighborhood where hipsters would move in and replace local business with yoga, brewery, and coffee shops and chase the locals out. This is Barrio Logan, where all that good shit exist and own by the very people that grew up in this neighborhood, its authentic as fuck! I fuck with this heavy, I love you Salud!
